Social Security Disability Blog |
| The Social
Security Disability Blog titled "My Disability Blog" is written
by Tim Moore, who is a former disability examiner for the social security
administration's Disability Determination Service, or DDS, and also a former
medicaid caseworker.
The blog covers various aspects of the federal government's two disability programs, which are mandated under title II (social security disability) and title 16 (SSI, or supplemental security income) of the social security act, originally passed under the administration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. For the most part, the blog focuses on answering many commonly asked questions about social security disability and SSI, as well as questions that are less commonly asked and which pertain to specific situations involving medical and non-medical eligibility issues. However, "My Disability Blog" also focuses on the following: A. Pending and proposed changes to the federal disability system, such as the DSI, or disability service improvement, initiative, which aimed to radically change the nature of appeals processing on title II and title 16 claims, and which has recently been suspended after a test-pilot program in the SSA Boston region which comprises the new england states. B. News regarding backlogs in the disability application and appeal system, particularly with regard to backlogs that exist in various social security hearing offices around the country (formerly known collectively as the Office of Hearings and Appeals, or OHA, and now known collectively as the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, or ODAR). C. General News on disability-related topics and even non-disability news items, both current and past. |
