Reviewer: Allison Martin Informative and upbeat, this exceptional children's picture book stars children with Congenital Amputation (missing a limb), Asperger's Syndrome, Blindness, Down Syndrome, Deafness, and Cerebral Palsy. A bit of helpful information is presented on each child by their siblings, describing how the disability affects them and their family. These introductions are presented with affection, emphasizing the special siblings' abilities and ways in which they or their unaffected siblings overcome problems. Brothers and Sisters by Laura Dwight is a great book for children
from preschool and to late elementary age. (My fifth grade daughter read
through this book with great enthusiasm, exclaiming happily at the family
pictures.) Brothers and Sisters is a wonderful resource for siblings of
special needs children, or other children who interact with special populations.
I highly recommend this special needs children's book for libraries, schools,
doctors, therapists, or home. |
